Course Description
In this course, in addition to teaching beginner level Latin grammar Sample texts will also be studied, and information will be given about the historical periods, cultures and geographies in which Latin and Latin were effective.

Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide students with an introduction to Latin, the source of many European languages. to enable them to learn the basics.
Course Outcomes
1. Recognize the grammatical features of beginning Latin
2. To be able to analyze simple texts in Latin, to be able to translate simple texts from Latin into English and from English into Latin
3. To have knowledge about the periods and geographies where Latin was effective
4. To have knowledge about the main authors who wrote in Latin and their works
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: The place and developmental history of Latin among the world languages, major authors and their works
Week 2: Latin alphabet and phonetic features of the language
Week 3: Nouns: noun conjugations, cases of nouns
Week 4: Nouns: noun conjugations, cases of nouns
Week 5: Verbs conjugation, regular and irregular verbs, tenses
Week 6: Verbs conjugation, regular and irregular verbs, tenses
Week 7: Adjectives
Week 8: Adjectives
Week 9: Pronouns: personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, interrogative pronouns
Week 10: Pronouns: personal pronouns, demonstrative pronouns, interrogative pronouns
