The aim of this course is to examine the developments in contemporary European states, the contributions of the Industrial Revolution and the French Revolution to economic and political developments, and their reflections in the Ottoman Empire, starting from the Ottoman modernization movements; to examine the periods of the First Constitutional Monarchy, the Committee of Union and Progress, the Second Constitutional Monarchy, the Tripoli and Balkan Wars, and the effects of World War I, and the developments during the National Struggle period.
1. In this course, all developments from the War of Independence to the declaration of the Republic will be discussed in detail.
2. The change and development from the empire to the republic will be evaluated in a broad perspective.

Week 9: Sivas Congress, Last Ottoman Chamber of Deputies and National Pact
Week 10: TBMM Period and Formation of Fronts
Week 11: Lausanne Treaty
Week 12: Foreign Policy
