Industrial Design Undergraduate Program
This course serves as an introduction to the history of industrial design, covering the period from the origins of design to the Industrial Revolution. It examines the development of art and craft-based production processes in light of economic, technological, and social transformations. Students will learn how these processes were shaped by societal and cultural changes.

The goal of the course is to help students understand the historical development of industrial design and critically assess the impact of social, cultural, and economic contexts on design. By gaining awareness of the evolution of design ideas throughout history, students will be able to approach contemporary design practices with a deeper perspective.
1. Define the main stages and historical development of industrial design within their social and cultural contexts.
2. Analyze and compare different production processes, material uses, and design approaches across historical periods.
3. Evaluate the social and cultural impacts of design and production processes prior to the Industrial Revolution.
4. Conduct a critical discussion within a historical context on course topics using written and visual materials.
