Visual Communication Design
The Basic Design I course includes both theoretical knowledge and practical projects to improve students’ visual thinking and expression skills. The course covers an in-depth analysis of design elements and principles, ensuring that students can utilize them effectively. Through weekly projects and assignments, students create compositions using fundamental components such as point, line, shape, form, texture, and color. Throughout this process, students explore different aspects of visual language by working on both black-and-white and colored designs. Additionally, through their projects, they develop creative thinking, analytical evaluation, and aesthetic sensibility.

The Basic Design I course is structured to help students understand the fundamental components of visual communication design. Students learn how to effectively combine design elements such as point, line, shape, color, and texture to create compelling compositions. This course aims to provide hands-on experience with design principles, including balance, emphasis, unity, contrast, and rhythm. While developing their basic design skills, students also have the opportunity to enhance their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities. By the end of the course, students are expected to have attained a foundational level of design skills that they can apply to professional work.
1. Learns the fundamental principles and elements of design, along with relevant theories and theorists, to establish a strong design foundation.
2. Expresses concrete observations through manual drawing and sketching techniques using simple lines and forms.
3. Accurately represents the structural characteristics of objects based on proportion, perspective, and composition rules.
4. Gains the ability to abstract by simplifying the fundamental characteristics of real objects and stylizing them.
5. Reinforces essential skills such as problem-solving, planning, and project management through hands-on design exercises.
6. Balances aesthetics and functionality by creating minimalist and simple compositions.
7. Understands and applies the universal meanings of basic forms and symbols through simple visual expressions.
8. Develops self-assessment skills by engaging in classroom discussions and critique sessions within applied projects.
9. Uses observation skills to examine and analyze the fundamental structures and forms of objects in the environment.
10. Applies abstraction techniques to reveal the core structure of real objects through simplified and effective drawings.
11. Enhances visual communication skills by applying accurate perspective and proportion knowledge in basic drawing exercises.
12. Strengthens design thinking by reinforcing theoretical knowledge through practical projects and classroom activities.
