Course Description
This course covers the fundamental principles, history, and development of typography. Students will explore the anatomical structure of typefaces and structural differences between fonts, understanding typography's role in readability and design aesthetics. The course includes typography applications in both physical and digital environments, focusing on typographic arrangement principles and composition techniques. Students will learn to use typography effectively in graphic products such as posters, editorial design, and digital interfaces. The course aims to enhance students' ability to use typography strategically and creatively.

Course Objectives
This course aims to teach students typography concepts, history, and fundamental design principles. It helps them understand the anatomical structure of typefaces, font differences, and the role of typography in visual communication. Students will experience typography applications in both physical and digital environments, learning readability, balance, and composition principles. Hands-on projects will be conducted using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. The course aims to develop students' ability to use typography effectively, approach design processes strategically, and create innovative solutions.

2. Analyzes the visual characteristics of different typefaces and styles to make appropriate typographic choices.

Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: "What is Typography?" Presentation
Week 2: Write a pangram both vertically and horizontally on a full A4 sheet. Fold the A4 paper into two, three, and four sections, rewriting the pangram each time as the paper size decreases. Complete a total of 8 pages with pangram writing in 4 different page sizes.
Week 3: Font Compatibility Practice: Business Card Design
Week 4: Typographic Insect Design, Practice: Transform a bug photograph into a typographic design.
Week 5: Font Poster, Practice: Design a poster (50x70 cm) for a selected font using AI or PS format.
Week 6: Album Cover Re-Design, Practice: Re-design an existing music album cover with a focus on typographic aesthetics.
Week 7: Event Poster Re-Design, Practice: Choose a poorly designed event poster or flyer from the internet or physical surroundings.
Week 8: GIT/VCD Poster, Practice: Design a typographic poster with the phrase "GÖRSEL İLETİŞİM TASARIMI" or "VISUAL COMMUNICATION DESIGN", ensuring readability.
Week 9: Typography Course Portfolio, Lecture: Introduction to InDesign, Practice: Compile all class projects into a portfolio using InDesign.
Week 11: Typography Course Portfolio Completion
Week 12: Final Submission
