Visual Communication Design
Course Description
As part of awareness projects addressing social issues, students will create visual content for various platforms such as outdoor advertising, social media, competitions, and biennials. In this context, poster design projects will focus on topics requiring social sensitivity, including climate issues, gender equality, human rights, animal rights, individual armament, child development, and mental, psychological, and biological disorders. Students are expected to combine their theoretical knowledge and technical skills to develop creative and original solutions.

Course Objectives
The course aims to help students identify, analyze, and develop solutions for social issues through research and practical applications tailored to specific target audiences. Additionally, students will create impactful visual content and slogans, ensuring their poster designs maintain linguistic consistency, creativity, and relevance to the target audience.
Course Outcomes
1. Effectively applies current computer software and design techniques required to produce multi-component studio projects.
2. Transforms abstract data into innovative and original conceptual foundations in order to solve given medium-scale communication design problems.
3. Transforms the conceptual foundations developed into effective two- or three-dimensional visual expressions through tools such as illustration, typography, and photography.
4. Plans and manages the research, sketching, development, and final presentation stages of the studio project through a methodological approach.
5. Defends the rationale behind design decisions in a jury setting and critically examines the works produced in the studio.

Curriculum and weekly process distribution:

Project 1: A poster design about music, music genres, and artists/groups. File submission in 70 × 100 cm format.

Project 2: A poster design about the characteristic features of the city of Ankara. File submission in 70 × 100 cm format.

Project 3: Two poster designs about anything that causes young people to experience fear, such as youth fears, FOMO, anxiety, depression, future anxiety, social media, and similar topics. File submission in 70 × 100 cm format.
