This course aims to provide an introduction to legal terminology and legal phrases used in English. The structure and use of legal language will be examined through court decisions from different jurisdictions, contracts from various areas of law, and legal translation methods. Additionally, students will select one decision from the European Court of Human Rights, the Court of Justice of the European Union, or the International Court of Justice and prepare a short review paper.

The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge about legal terminology and legal phrases used in English. Students will learn the structure of legal language through practical exercises involving court decisions and contracts from different jurisdictions. Additionally, students aim to develop their skills in interpreting legal texts and translation by analyzing a selected judicial decision.
1. Defines and explains legal terminology and legal phrases used in English.
2. Understands the structure of legal language by analyzing court decisions from different jurisdictions.
3. Evaluates contracts from various areas of law and identifies the linguistic features of legal texts.
4. Learns and applies legal translation methods.
5. Interprets legal texts by examining decisions from the European Court of Human Rights, the Court of Justice of the European Union, or the International Court of Justice.
6. Analyzes a legal text, works on it, and prepares a written evaluation.
