Course Description
The aim of the course is to understand human growth and development, constancy and change in childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. Physical, emotional, psychosocial, and cognitive influences to human development will be addressed throughout the course.

Course Objectives
1. Students will know the basic theories explaining development through life span; the areas of physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development, and their interaction with each other.
2. They also develop a critical perspective on human development.
Course Outcomes
1. Identify the major theoretical perspectives addressing life-span development;
2. Identify the developing individual across physical, cognitive, emotional, and social domains of human development;
3. Discuss gender and cultural differences in human development.

Week 3: Prenatal Development, Birth, and the Newborn Baby
Week 4: Physical Development in Infancy and Toddlerhood: The First Two Years + Cognitive Development in Infancy and Toddlerhood: The First Two Years
Week 5: Emotional and Social Development in Infancy and Toddlerhood: The First Two Years
Week 6: Physical and Cognitive Development in Early Childhood: Two to Six Years
Week 7: Emotional and Social Development in Early Childhood: Two to Six Years
