Course Description
Societies in Turkestan (especially Turks and Mongols) until the 1000th year, Their political formations and civilizations: Huns, Tabgachs (Tobas), Avars, Gokturks, Khazars, Bulgars, Uyghurs, Karluks, Turgish and similar Turkish communities and states, their relations with each other and with other communities and countries. Cultures created by Turkish communities; Especially pre-Islamic Turkish political history, civilization and new developments resulting from their contacts with Islamic civilization.

Course Objectives
This course aims to teach students the letters of the Ottoman alphabet, the properties and uses of these letters, and word formation. It also aims to teach them how to form Turkish, Arabic, and Persian words with different suffixes in Ottoman Turkish. It also aims to teach them to read basic printed Ottoman texts.
Course Outcomes
1. Understanding the place of the Turks in history
2. Obtaining a general idea about the Central Asian Turkish people and their neighbors
3. Learning the methods of obtaining sources and information about the ancient Turkish states

Week 8: Gokturk State and Its Establishment
Week 9: Gokturk State's Place in Turkish History
Week 10: Uyghurs
Week 11: The Fall of the Uyghurs and Their Successors
Week 12: Religion, Society and Economy in Ancient Turks
