Course Description
Reading of various forms of rik'a script from Ottoman archive documents, analyzing and explaining their content and structure; reading of ta'lik script from Sharia registers and fatwas, analyzing and explaining their content and structure; reading of divani script from Mühimme registers, analyzing and explaining their content and structure.

Course Objectives
This course aims to enable students to read the Ottoman handwritten scripts of rik'a, ta'lik and divani well. In addition, it aims to familiarize students with these records by reading the scripts from archive documents such as sharia records and muhimme registers, and to help them comprehend the expressions and terms used in different types of documents during that period.
Course Outcomes
1. To be able to read Ottoman rik'a type handwriting.
2. To be able to read Ottoman ta'lik type handwriting.
3. To be able to read Ottoman divani type handwriting.
4. To have knowledge about various Ottoman archive documents and their language.

Week 1: Introduction to the course, explanation of goals and expectations; Reading and analysis of texts in Rik'a script type
Week 2: Reading and analysis of texts in Rik'a script type
Week 3: Reading and analysis of texts in Rik'a script type
Week 4: Providing information about the basic features of Ta'lik script type; Quiz
Week 5: Reading and analysis of texts in Ta'lik script type
Week 6: Reading and analysis of texts in Ta'lik script type
Week 7: Reading and analysis of texts in Ta'lik script type, Midterm exam
Week 8: Providing information about the basic features of Divani script type; Reading and analysis of texts in Divani script type
Week 9: Reading and analysis of texts in Divani script type
