This course examines American history from the 15th century to the present. Topics include indigenous civilizations, European exploration of the continent, colonization of North America, British rule, the founding of the United States, the War of Independence against the British Empire, slavery, the Civil War, the social, economic, and political transformation of the United States in the 20th century, and its rise to global dominance.
