Learning about modernization movements in Turkey from the Empire to the Republic and the political, social and legal consequences of these initiatives.

Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to discuss all aspects of Türkiye's modernization and modernization attempts from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic, from the foundation of the republic to the present day.
Course Outcomes
1. The reasons for the modernization attempts that emerged within the empire, the goals they aimed to achieve, the social effects and reactions, the results of the attempts, and the contributions of these results to modernization will be evaluated.
2. Within the scope of the evaluation of the political, social and economic results of Tripoli, the Balkans and World War I; the path leading to the National Struggle, the stages of this struggle and the results of the modernization movement will be discussed.
3. After the Turkish modernization movement in the Republican period that started with the proclamation of the Republic, its reflections on domestic and foreign policy, its effects and the changes it brought about are discussed, the effects of World War II on the domestic and foreign policy of contemporary Turkey will be evaluated.

Week 9: External Developments in the Atatürk Period
Week 10: Domestic Politics During the Second World War (1939-1945)
Week 11: Foreign Policy During the Second World War (1939-1945)
Week 12: General Analysis of Turkey's Domestic and Foreign Political Developments Until the End of World War II
