The Russian Empire, which started with the Moscow Khanate in the 14th century and developed towards the South and East after the 16th century; political and diplomatic relations with the Ottoman Empire and Eastern Europe; important wars and the struggle for power over the Black Sea will be examined. The role of the Russian Orthodox Church in Russian society, the contribution of Peter I to the growth of Russia, the army, the nobility and the peasantry are among the main subjects to be examined. The USSR, which was established with the Bolshevik revolution in 1917, and the societies, political organizations and civilizations that followed will also be touched upon.

To learn the basic topics of Russian history and to gain knowledge about the important issues of Ottoman-Russian relations.

3. Learning about societies, political formations and civilizations in the USSR and beyond.
Week 1: The Origin of the Slavs and Kievan Rus' Week 2: The Mongol Domination Period Week 3: The Beginning of Relations with the Ottoman Empire, the Expansion Period and Ivan IV. Week 4: The Era of Peter the Great, the Battle of Prut and After. Week 5: Catherine II and After. Week 6: Turkish-Russian Trade Relations Week 7: Russia After the French Revolution, the Decembrists. Week 8: The Crimean War (1853-56) Week 9: Pan-Slavism and Russia's Balkan Policy, the Straits Policy. Week 10: Reforms at the End of the 19th Century, the Revolution of 1905. Week 11: Turkic Peoples Living in Russia. Week 12: The October Revolution and the End of the Russian Empire.
