Turkish Language and Literature Undergraduate Program

In this course, individuals, works, schools, communities and groups in the Turkish literature of the Republican Period will be introduced; the novel and story of this period will be examined in terms of social and political events.

The aim of the course is to introduce the individuals, works, schools, communities and groups in the Turkish literature of the Republican Period and to examine the novels and stories of this period.

1. Familiar with the poetic movements, poets and works of Turkish literature from the Republican era.
2. Introduces the novelists and short-story writers of Turkish literature from the Republican era, along with their works.
3. Learns to read and analyse key works from this period.

Week 1: Introduction to the course, clarification of responsibilities.
Providing information on the circumstances leading up to the Republic.
Week 2: Masters who influenced Republican poetry: Mehmet Akif and Ahmet Haşim
Short stories by Sait Faik Abasıyanık and Memduh Şevket Esendal
Week 3: Masters who influenced Republican-era poetry: Yahya Kemal
