In this course, important works produced between the 13th and the 15th centuries will be examined, the cultural environments in which these works were written will be introduced and their place in literary history will be evaluated.

The aim of this course is to focus on the written language of the 13th-15th centuries. First, the political background of the century will be given, literary developments in this century will be explained, then examples of poetry by leading figures such as Mevlana and Yunus Emre will be evaluated; Zeynep Hatun, Avnî, Cem Sultan, Mihri Hatun will be briefly introduced, and Ahmet Paşa and Necati Bey will be discussed in detail.
1. Learns the names and works of classical literature writers from the 13th to 15th centuries.
2. Reads and analyzes literary texts from this period.
Week 1: Political and literary scene of the Ottoman Empire in the 13th-15th centuries.
Week 2: Study of aruz meter.
Week 3: The course of Turkish as a written language, literature that developed in Anatolia in the 13th century. Sufi Turkish literature that developed in Anatolia, Mevlana, Sultan Veled, Ahmed Fakih.
Week 4: 14th century Azeri Turkish literature, Kadı Burhaneddin, Nesimi. 14th Century Anatolian ield Turkish literature, Yunus Emre, Gülşehri, Aşık Paşa, Hoca Mesud.
Week 5: Hoca Dehhani. 15th century Anatolian Turkish literature.
Week 6: Şeyhî, ghazal samples; Ahmet Pasha, Güneş Kasidesi.
Week 7: Ahmet Paşa, ghazal with the repeated phrase "bilmedüm".
Week 8: Necati Bey, praise of Sultan Bayezid; Necati Bey, examples of ghazals.
Week 9: Examples of ghazals from other poets of the period in the style of Necati; women's issues in Divan poetry and a look at the ghazals of female Divan poets Zeynep and Mihri Hatun.
Week 10: The place of the verse in Ottoman poetry, examples of ghazals. A look at the poems of the Sultan poets Avni, Bayezid and Cem Sultan.
Week 11: General text readings.
