Turkish Language and Literature Undergraduate Program

In this course, historical and social events, institutions, intellectual movements, characteristic figures of these periods and their poems in the interconnected literary periods of Servet-i Fünûn, Fecr-i Âti and Tanzimat will be introduced; poetry analyses will be made on these works.

The aim of this course is to examine the poems written in the Tanzimat, Servet-i Fünun and Fecr-i Ati periods within the conditions of the period.

1. Recognize the poetry movements, poets and works of the Tanzimat, Servet-i Fünun and Fecr-i Ati periods.
2. Learn to read and analyze important works of this period.

Week 2: Intellectual movements in the 19th century: Ottomanism, Islamism, Turkism, Westernism
Week 3: Providing information about 19th century literature and poets

Week 5: Reading the introduction of Ziya Paşa's Harabat
Week 6: Poetry reviews: Recaizade Mahmut Ekrem Ah Nijad
