Course Description
In this course, texts from the 18th and 19th centuries will be emphasized, examples from previous centuries will be evaluated, and students will be provided with the opportunity to make stylistic comparisons with works produced in these centuries.

Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of the mentality of the 18th and 19th century Ottoman Divan literature.
Course Outcomes
1. Learns the names and works of classical literature writers of the 18th-19th centuries.
2. Reads and analyzes literary texts from this period.
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: 18th century Divan literature, evaluation of the style of the period.
Week 2: Nedim, examples of ghazals and songs.
Week 3: Nedim, examples of ghazals and songs.
Week 4: Şeyh Galip, examples of ghazals and songs.
Week 5: Sünbülzade Vehbî, example of qasida.
Week 6: Examination of the Sefaretname example.
Week 7: Examination of the Surname example.
Week 8: 19th century Divan literature, evaluation of the style of the period.
Week 9: Examples of ghazals from the 19th century.
Week 10: Readings on the issue of transferring tradition to the present.
Week 11: Readings on the issue of transferring tradition to the present.
Week 12: Evaluation of 18th and 19th century Ottoman Divan literature in a general framework.
