Course Description
Forensic medicine contributes to the manifestation of justice by providing medical information needed by the law to the service of justice. Forensic medicine provides information on determining the cause of death by performing autopsies and reporting the physical and mental damages suffered by individuals.

Course Objectives
This course aims to provide information and skills on the definition, content, sections and history of forensic medicine, asphyxia, sudden deaths, sexual assaults, forensic toxicology, forensic biology, forensic reports, post-mortem changes and the autopsy process. It is aim to provide the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to refer cases to advanced health units when necessary.
Course Outcomes
1. Defines forensic sciences and the field of forensic medicine, and explains its scope and history.
2. Organizes a workflow diagram for forensic approach and monitoring of injured people.
3. Explains the rules for preparing reports for forensic cases and prepares reports.
4. Defines, classifies and describes wounds.
5. Explain the content of asphyxia and autopsy findings.
6. Explains application errors in medicine and how to report them.
7. Explains sudden deaths, etiopathogenesis and autopsy findings.
8. Explains types of poisoning, reporting and autopsy findings.
9. Explains the principles of evidence collection and reporting rules in sexual crimes.
10. Explain post-mortem changes and formation mechanisms, and define the dead body examination and reporting process.
11. Lists forensic DNA analysis methods.
12. Evaluates an autopsy report in terms of content and organization.
13. Explains the principles of approach to disability cases and reporting rules.
