Course Objectives
This internship includes taking anamnesis from patients before thoracic surgery, communicating with patients and basic examination training and practice, file preparation, theoretical courses, bedside training, and participation in seminar programs. They monitor patients and surgeries in polyclinics and clinical services under the supervision of faculty members and assistants.
Course Outcomes
1. Ability to apply the principles applied to thoracic traumas
2. Recognize pneumothorax and apply treatment methods
3. Recognize hemothorax and direct
4. Recognize tension pneumothorax and apply treatment methods
5. Classify diseases related to compression problems, interpret diagnosis and differential diagnosis
6. Demonstrate patient history taking and examination in response to thoracic surgery
7. Basic surgical practices (wearing gloves, suturing, surgical dressing)
8. Frequent follow-ups in surgery can recognize ethical issues

Week 1: Introduction to Thoracic Surgery
Week 2: Pneumothorax Thoracic Traumas 1, Thoracic Wall Deformities 1
Week 3: Tube thoracostomy and follow-up, Thoracentesis
Week 4: Gunshot wounds
Week 5: Lung cancer Outpatient clinic application Pulmonary resections
Week 6: Pneumothorax Thoracic Traumas and chest X-ray
Week 7: Thoracic Wall Deformities 2
Week 8: Tube thoracostomy and follow-up
Week 9: Thoracic Tomography
Week 10: Thoracic incisions
Week 11: Thoracic Traumas 2, Lung cancer and PET CT
Week 12: Prolonged air leak. Outpatient clinic applications Clinic visit
