Course Description
To provide intern doctors with the necessary skills to take a perfect anamnesis from a child patient in accordance with the rules, to perform all system examinations completely during the physical examination, to diagnose and make differential diagnosis of diseases commonly seen in childhood, to provide appropriate treatment at the primary care level or to refer necessary patients to a higher level health center by providing appropriate referral conditions.

Course Objectives
Our aim is to train physicians who are aware of general child health problems in our country and in the world, who understand the special importance of preventive medicine in pediatrics, who respect professional ethical rules, who are investigative, questioning and have problem-solving skills, who have perfectly learned anamnesis and physical examination techniques, and who have acquired practical skills in addition to differential diagnosis and treatment knowledge.
Course Outcomes
1. Takes a very good anamnesis from child patients or their families and performs a physical examination
2. Evaluates the vital signs obtained during the physical examination, head-neck examination, respiratory system examination, cardiovascular system examination, abdominal examination, urogenital system examination, extremity-muscle-joint examination, neurological examination, skin examination findings well, and performs a newborn baby examination.
3. It detects pathological physical examination findings such as tachypnea, crepitant rales, rhonchi, wheezing, stridor, tachycardia, cyanosis, murmur, thrill, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly, edema, ascites, abdominal mass, hernia (umbilical, inguinal), hydrocele, lymphadenomegaly, bulging or sunken fontanelle, craniotabes, widening of wrists, rachitic pearls, pallor of conjunctiva, meningeal irritation findings, coma, petechiae, purpura, malnutrition, dehydration, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia, suspicious genitalia, microcephaly, macrocephaly, early puberty and delayed puberty.
4. Healthy child monitoring, knows and applies children's vaccination schedule.
5. Knows the nutrition program of babies and children and provides education to the family
6. Plans the laboratory and radiological examinations required for differential diagnosis.
7. Makes differential diagnosis and treatment of common diseases such as fever, dehydration, abdominal pain symptoms, upper respiratory tract infection, otitis media, sinusitis, pneumonia, bronchiolitis, urinary infection, anemia, rickets, gastroenteritis, malnutrition, scarlet fever, mumps, measles, chickenpox, and writes prescriptions.
8. Recognizes convulsions, meningitis/encephalitis, heart failure, neonatal jaundice, asthma, acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis, hypertension, anaphylaxis and intoxications, provides emergency treatment and refers to a higher level health center by providing appropriate referral conditions.
9. Diagnoses nephrotic syndrome, viral hepatitis, acute joint rheumatism, congenital heart diseases, tuberculosis, congenital hip dislocation, ALL, ITP, diabetic ketoacidosis, suspicious genitalia, congenital hypothyroidism, epilepsy and refers to the necessary centers.
10. Evaluate peripheral blood smear and urine microscopy.
11. Takes venous blood samples and body fluid cultures.
12. Makes intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous and subcutaneous injections
13. Communicates well with colleagues, assistants, and faculty members
14. Knows the approach that complies with ethical rules and protects patient rights
