Teaching basic principles, concepts and practices of public health

Course Objectives
Providing information about the country's health status, health needs and health system, providing information about epidemiology, preventive medicine and the functioning of primary health care services and legal regulations, providing knowledge and skills about the duties of the physician as a team leader, especially in the management of primary health care services, and providing a public health approach in identifying and solving community-based health problems.
Course Outcomes
1. Acquires the view and behavior skills that medicine is a profession that provides preventive and curative services equally to everyone,
2. Discusses the factors that negatively affect public health in Turkey,
3. Evaluate social, cultural and environmental factors as well as biological factors in health-related events,
4. Determines, evaluates and discusses solutions to health-related problems in any society using epidemiological methods,
5. Explains the provision model of health services in Turkey and the authorities and responsibilities of the personnel working in the services.
6. Explains the principles of organization in health services, Discusses the relationship between primary, secondary and tertiary health services,
7. Lists the duties, authorities and responsibilities of the personnel working in primary health services for the community in our country
8. Explains the structure and functioning of the community health center.
9. Participates in the work carried out by the units in the community health center and evaluates and discusses the services.
10. Explains the relationship between the health organization and other public and private institutions.
11. Takes bacteriological and chemical samples from water and food, send them and evaluates the results, measures the level of chlorine in water,
12. Fights against infectious diseases in the community,
13. Provides family planning counseling and applies IUD on anatomical models by standards,
14. Plans immunization services determine the vaccine needs of the region,
15. Explains tuberculosis and cancer control programs in Turkey.
16. Lists the causes of death in society in Turkey and explain the programs to combat them.
17. Evaluate scientific articles using critical reading techniques.
18. Plans and implements a field study, and writes and presents the research report.

To be continuous in the 1-month working period in Etimesgut District Health Directorate and Family Health Center and to be sufficient in the evaluation of the applications made and to achieve a success score of 70 %and above in seminar preparation and presentations:
