Course Description
Energy Economics examines energy resources and products. In this context, the development of energy resources and products, market structures, regulation, regional agreements, environmental consequences are within the scope of this course.

Course Objectives
Students who successfully complete this course are expected to know the main issues related to energy economy, energy diplomacy, environment and natural resources of Turkiye and its region (such as the Middle East, Central Asia, the Balkans, the Caucasus), the main issues of energy diplomacy and energy markets and their effects on the environment.
In general, it is aimed that they can transfer the experiences and knowledge they have gained to both their academic and professional lives.
The in-class activities, simulations and presentations to be carried out throughout the course aim to ensure that students exhibit more interactive participation.
Course Outcomes
1. Knowing the basic concepts of energy security, energy policies and energy diplomacy and being able to use these gains in an analytical and critical manner for the rest of their education and business life.
2. Identifying the main factors related to international energy systems and developing their ability to analyze them systematically and critically, both verbally and in writing.
3. Becoming familiar with the basic concepts of political economy in the field of international energy and environment,
4. Developing presentation skills
5. Developing basic research skills on issues related to energy policies, energy security and global energy economy; Knowing the basic concepts of energy economy, energy and natural resources and their relations with other disciplines.
6. Having general information about the processes of realization of new formations in terms of energy economy and policies and energy diplomacy in Turkiye and its immediate surroundings
7. Understanding and interpreting the interaction of energy supply security, energy markets and environmental issues with the country and world economy
8. Having basic information about the role of private sector, public and civil society organizations in the development process of energy economy and policies;
9. Ability to demonstrate an academic and analytical approach to current energy issues;

Week 8: Energy-Environment Relationship
Week 9: Opportunities and Risks (In-class simulations)
Week 10: New resources. Group presentations
Week 11: International Organizations and Energy Policies. Group Presentations
