Course Objectives
To provide entrepreneurs, workers, and managers with the necessary information regarding labor legislation and to develop competence in complying with the labor laws applicable in Turkey and Russia.
Course Outcomes
1. Can understand the fundamental concepts of working life.
2. Can acquire knowledge about the labor legislation applied in Turkey and Russia.
3. Can analyze international organizations and regulations related to working life.
4. Can compare Turkish and Russian labor legislation.
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: What is labor legislation? An overview of working life in Turkey and Russia.
Week 2: Labor Law, workers' rights, employer obligations, trade unions, and the social security system.
Week 3: Labor Law, workers' rights, employer obligations, trade unions, and the social security system.
Week 4: Types of employment contracts in Turkey and Russia, working hours, wage regulations, and fringe benefits.
Week 5: Occupational health and safety policies, workers' rights, and government supervision in Turkey and Russia.
Week 6: Rights and obligations of employers and employees, dismissal procedures, severance, and notice payments.
Week 7: ILO (International Labour Organization), EU labor standards, and global workforce regulations.
Week 8: Midterm assessment, discussion, and case studies.
Week 9: Trade union rights, strike and lockout processes, and collective bargaining systems.
Week 10: Recent legislative changes in Turkey and Russia and their impacts.
Week 11: Differences and similarities, advantages and disadvantages, economic and social impacts.
Week 12: Discussion, case studies, course summary, and final evaluation
