Course Description
In this course, with the help of the subjects that constitute the scope of the course, it is aimed to develop the basic language skills of the students (understanding, speaking and writing what they hear and read). Language programmes have been prepared in line with the criteria set out by the European Language Commission.

Course Objectives
To teach students the rules of Russian grammar at B1 level in a comprehensive manner, so that they have the opportunity to pass the TRKI B1 exam upon completion of their studies. To give students an understanding of how to tell a biography, to discuss topics such as the education system, work, science, business. To provide practical skills for navigating in urban life.
Course Outcomes
1. Students can introduce themselves and others, both orally and in writing, using sentences with both imperfect (NSV) and perfect (SV) verbs.
2. Students can describe their work and business, both orally and in writing, using B1 level grammar and vocabulary.
3. Students can talk and write about city landscapes, transportation, and life in Russia in complex sentences using verbs of motion.
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: Level exam is being held.
Week 2: Biography, family, interests and hobbies of a person.
Week 3: Active and passive constructions with the verbs НСВ (NSV) and СВ (SV). Use of verbs with the particle -СЯ.
Week 4: Biography, family, interests and hobbies of a person (continued).
Week 5: Active participles of the present tense (from the verbs of NSV).
Week 6: Active past tenses (from the verbs of NSV and SV).
Week 7: Education system, study, science, work. Short forms of passive participles.
Week 8: Education system, study, science, work (continued). Degrees of comparison of adjectives and adverbs. Full and short forms of adjectives. Expression of descriptive relations in simple and complex sentences.
Week 9: City, city tour, city transport, orientation in the city. Motion verbs without prefixes. Motion verbs with prefixes (Group I).
Week 10: City, city attractions, city life (continued). Comparison of types of motion verbs with prefixes.
Week 11: Motion verbs with prefixes (Group II). Figurative meanings of motion verbs. Expression of spatial relationships in simple and complex sentences.
Week 12: Final exam.
