Course Description
In the post-Soviet Russia, the organization of state power, the nature of the relations between the legislature, the executive and the judiciary will be explained how law and political science are conducted.

Course Objectives
To provide students with basic knowledge of business law and to expand their vocabulary on sales contracts, lease agreements and employment contracts. To teach them how to emphasize important points in official documents and legal news.
Course Outcomes
1. Students can have B1 level vocabulary and simple conversation about sales contracts, leases and employment contracts.
2. Students can read and retell passages from official documents and legal news.
3. Students can have a basic understanding of Russian labor law.
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: Introduction to the course. Fundamentals of the legal system of Russia.
Week 2: Concept and functions of law.
Week 3: Sources of law in Russia.
Week 4: The Constitution of the Russian Federation as the basic law.
Week 5: Contracts: purchase and sale, lease, employment contract.
Week 6: Consumer protection.
Week 7: State institutions regulating administrative issues.
Week 8: Employment contract: rights and obligations of the employee and the employer.
Week 9: Working hours, holidays, dismissal.
Week 10: Social security: pension, benefits.
Week 11: Final discussion and review of the material.
Week 12: Final exam
