Course Description
In this course, the reasons for the emergence and development of Turkish prose, from the early periods to the second half of the 19th century, the last period in which examples of Old Turkish Literature are given, will be discussed with a perspective based on stylistic change and by interpreting sample texts selected according to periods.

Course Objectives
Analysing classical Turkish prose from the early period to the end of the 19th century through sample texts.
Course Outcomes
1. Learn the names and works of classical literature from the beginning to the end of the 19th century.
2. Analyze literary texts from this period with a comparative method.

Week 3: Common culture on which Ottoman divan literature is based

Week 5: Leading writers and their works of the 13th-14th centuries
Week 6: Leading writers and their works of the 15th century
Week 7: Leading writers and their works of the 16th century
Week 8: Leading writers and their works of the 17th century

Week 10: Leading writers and their works of the 19th century
