This course will introduce the tools necessary for basic semantic analysis. It will focus on topics such as the difference between the concept of reference and the concept of meaning, the nature of linguistic meaning, the semantic value of proper and general names, and will teach set-theoretic representations of conjunctions and quantifiers.
