society’s ability to play a role in world history and to be the subject of history depends on whether it has this consciousness. Being able to play a role in the formation of history as an individual or a society depends on producing ideas and knowledge, transferring them to the field of application and standing behind them. A historian evaluates current events according to their formation from the past. This does not mean being connected to the past, but it does mean paving the way for the future. The subject of the science of history is the study, understanding and interpretation of people and their works from the first person to the present, within the time period, with interdisciplinary cooperation. The people who will do this job can only be trained in history departments. Based on this necessity, TOBB ETU History Department envisages providing a history education applied within the framework of contemporary technology, by also adopting the understanding of comparative history. Students studying in the History Department analyze the cultures of various societies, especially Turkish Culture, comprehend world history and produce original information. In order to achieve this goal, emphasis is given to teaching a second foreign language, Ottoman Paleography is taught as a course and document-centered analyses are conducted.
1. The primary goal of the department is to train qualified personnel for the academic world.
2. In addition, students are encouraged to do minors and second majors in disciplines such as Turkish Language and Literature, International Relations, Economics and Law in line with their interests and desires, and are aimed to become capable of doing interdisciplinary studies.
Students who successfully complete this program are awarded a Bachelor's Degree in History.
The History program is a Bachelor's degree program, classified as Level 6 in the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ).
The requirement to complete the program and receive the degree is to complete at least 131 credits (258 ECTS).
Having received a sufficient score in the university entrance exam
Completing secondary education (high school) and obtaining a sufficient score in the appropriate score category in the national central placement exam is required. Within the framework of the regulations, the courses previously taken from a higher education program are evaluated with the courses in the program in terms of content and credits and a decision is made.
The measurement and evaluation method applied for each course is applied as specified in the relevant course information form of the faculty members and within the framework of the relevant regulations.
It is a full-time 1st education.

Our graduates mostly pursue academic careers. Some of them also work in various fields of expertise and take part in bureaucratic staff.
Students who graduate from this program can apply for master's programs.
