Program Outcomes
1) Students will have basic theoretical and practical knowledge of English literature, culture and history.
2) Students will have knowledge of the historical, social, cultural and political processes of European culture and civilization and will be able to analyze, analyze and critically evaluate the characteristics of English literature and the literary texts that represent them.
3) Students will acquire basic theoretical and practical knowledge of American literature, culture and history.
4) Students will have the ability to communicate effectively in Turkish or English as their field language; they will have sufficient knowledge of the language of their choice by choosing one of different foreign languages, including other European languages, for compulsory second foreign language courses.
5) Students will have sufficient theoretical knowledge of the grammar and linguistic features of English as their field language; they will acquire the ability to use this language correctly, fluently and effectively in written and oral communication.
6) Students will acquire the knowledge required for correct pronunciation of English words and translation of texts.
7) Students will be able to think creatively and critically.
8) Students will acquire the basic knowledge and skills necessary to teach English language, literature and culture at national and international level.
9) Students will be equipped to translate texts from English to Turkish and Turkish to English at national and international level.
10) Thanks to the knowledge and different perspectives they acquire, students develop an unprejudiced and respectful attitude towards everyone without marginalizing any culture; they acquire the ability to adapt these gains to their own field studies.
11) Students will be able to use up-to-date information technologies at national and international level, both individually have the ability to collect information about English language, literature and culture in group work.
12) Students will synthesize Turkish and English literatures and cultures and will have a critical perspective.
13) Students gain basic knowledge about non-literary fields, access and process information by comprehending the perspectives and methods of different disciplines.
14) Students will comprehend the relationship between literature and different fields and will have the ability to conduct interdisciplinary studies.
15) Students take responsibility individually or as a team member in the field of English Language and Literature or in interdisciplinary studies.
16) Students are equipped with three workplace work experiences within the scope of the Joint Education Program and approximately one year of work life experience until graduation.
17) Students fulfill the tasks they undertake in the workplaces they go to within the scope of the Joint Education Program, both individually and with teamwork.
18) Students gain awareness of lifelong learning, access to information, ability to follow developments in science and technology and continuous self-renewal skills through library research visits, scans using electronic resources and studies conducted through internet-based information portals as required by the research activities envisaged by the course plans.
19) Students observe the rules of academic ethics in the processes of accessing, producing and using information in the field of English Language and Literature or in other fields and act with a sense of responsibility accordingly.
20) Students gain and develop professional ethics and responsibility awareness in various fields while performing their duties in the workplaces within the scope of the Joint Education Program, the coordination and organization of which is carried out by the university throughout their undergraduate education.
21) Students studying literature, which is a branch of science and art with universal and social dimensions in terms of its nature, research methodology and scope, strive to become individuals with the sensitivity required by contemporary civilization.
