Course Description
In the History of Furniture and Accessories course, the relationship between building and interior space is evaluated in the context of equipment. In this context, the content of the course includes the transfer of the characteristics of classical and contemporary period furniture. The spatial values of the furnishings with historical and original values are emphasized to the students. In this context, it is aimed to make students perceive the place of furniture and equipment in spatial integrity.

The course aims to introduce students to the history of furniture design and the factors affecting this historical process in theoretical and practical terms.

Course Objectives
The course primarily aims to introduce furniture designers through the history of movable furniture and thus to perceive factors such as function, aesthetics, economy, ergonomics, materials, construction and production technologies.
Course Outcomes
1. Classify the history of furniture and equipment according to different periods and explain period-specific design features.
2. To be able to analyze the factors affecting furniture design such as function, aesthetics, ergonomics, materials, construction and production technologies.
3. To be able to explain the role of historical and original values in spatial integrity.
4. To be able to evaluate the aesthetic and functional contributions of classical and contemporary furniture in interior design.
