This course covers the measures to be taken to ensure safety in interior spaces during emergencies and disasters. The content of the course includes evacuation systems, management of panic behaviors, protection strategies and design of safe living spaces. In addition, the evaluation of interior elements, fittings and environmental arrangements in terms of safety is emphasized. Students learn to analyze emergency scenarios in interior spaces, identify risks and develop appropriate solutions.

The aim of the course is to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in interior safety issues. In this context; it is aimed to design and evaluate interior elements, fittings and environmental arrangements in accordance with safety standards. In addition, preparation of safe evacuation plans in disaster and emergency scenarios, management of panic behaviors and integration of protection measures into design processes are among the main objectives of the course.
1. Defines the basic concepts and principles of indoor safety.
2. Analyzes safe evacuation plans of interior spaces in disaster and emergency scenarios and develops recommendations.
3. Evaluates the effects of panic behaviors in interior design and offers user-oriented security solutions.

Week 2: Vital Threats, Risk, Emergency and Disaster Management and Damages
Week 3: Planning in Interior Design Criteria: Interior-Exterior Relationship, Organization-Function Relationship, Evacuation Routes
Week 4: Interior Components: Horizontal components, Exit Points, Exterior Doors-Fire Doors, Windows, Interior Doors and Structures and Walls
Week 5: Vertical Components: Interior Stairs, Basement Stairs, Fire Stairs, Elevators, Ramps
Week 6: First Evaluation Exam
Week 7: Reinforcement Elements: Movable Furniture, Fixed Furniture, Floor-Ceiling Coverings
Week 8: Electricity, Sanitary Installation, Gas, Ventilation, Detection, Warning and Extinguishing Systems
