MIM 229 course explores the relationship between architecture, culture, and identity in various contexts. The course presents architecture as a built environment shaped by economic, sociological, and technological components, adopting an interdisciplinary approach. Additionally, it examines the process of identity construction through architecture as a form of cultural production.

MIM 229 course aims to examine the representation of architectural and urban identity through selected buildings and cities. It focuses on the definition of public space, space, and place concepts, as well as cultural continuity and the cultural codes that sustain it. Additionally, the course explores how intercultural interactions influence this process and seeks to provide an understanding of the multiple parameters shaping architecture.
1. Understanding the multilayered nature of architecture as a built environment shaped by economic, sociological, and technological components. (Knowledge)
2. Comprehending the reciprocal relationship between space as a form of production and its interaction with culture and identity. (Knowledge)
3. Analyzing contextual, structural, and semantic characteristics of space through examples from world and Turkish architecture, and conducting a critical evaluation of architectural and urban space. (Skill)
4. Raising awareness of the preservation and sustainability of cultural heritage. (Competency)
