Course Description
The course is structured around the use of nature-informed design in architecture, with a particular focus on the efficient design of building envelopes.
Textbook and / or References
Course Objectives
It aims to provide students with an experiential understanding of nature-informed design, which is widely used and researched in contemporary architectural practice, through a design exercise. Additionally, this course seeks to first understand the vast database that nature offers and then utilize it in their own designs to solve structural problems, create inspiring designs, and update/improve existing approaches.
Course Outcomes
1. Understanding nature-informed design and its potential applications in architecture.
2. Learning how to transfer knowledge from different disciplines into architecture.
3. Gaining proficiency in computer-aided design programs used for nature-informed design.
