Course Description
In this course, examples of texts from the Ottoman period of Turkish literature will be examined. The focus will be on practices on how to annotate a text from the period in question, mainly through texts written in the ghazal verse form. The general panorama of Ottoman divan poetry from the 15th century to the 19th century will be given through the texts to be read.

Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to examine examples of poetry written during the Ottoman period and to focus on the practices of textual commentary.
Course Outcomes
1. Recognizes important texts written during the Ottoman period.
2. Learns to analyze these poems using the commentary method.
