Course Description
In this course, the birth of minstrel literature, the tradition that continued as bards until the 15th century, and the art of minstrelsy that continues today are discussed.

Evaluating the sources and productions of minstrel literature in the context of its historical process

Week 1: The birth of the bard tradition and its mythological sources
Week 2: The elements that were effective in the birth of the bard tradition
Week 3: Works of the bard tradition before Christ
Week 4: The bard tradition and Turkish literature in the 1st-10th centuries AD
Week 5: Islamic period: Ahmet Yesevi, Yunus Emre, Dede Korkut
Week 6: Atışma, türkü, leb Değilz, epic (practically)
Week 7: Köroğlu, Karacaoğlan, Gevheri and poetry reviews
Week 8: Midterm
Week 9: Âşık Ömer, Levni, Erzurumlu Emrah and poetry reviews
Week 10: Seyranî, Dertli, Dadaloğlu and poetry reviews
Week 11: Âşık Veysel, Âşık Reyhani, Âşık Mehmet and their poems
