Turkish Language and Literature Undergraduate Program
In this course, English plays and literary works adapted for the big screen will be read, watched and discussed. Students are expected to discuss the various dimensions of these works of art, including their interpretation and performance, as well as to research and critically evaluate the works, issues related to their production and reception.

The aim of this course is to introduce theatrical works written in world literature and to develop the skills of reading, understanding and evaluating literary texts in foreign languages.
1. Improves academic reading and writing skills in English.
Week 1: Introduction to the course and introduction to the course.
Week 2: General introduction to theater and introduction of theater types.
Week 3: Haldun Taner, Literary personality, works, and his place in Turkish theater
Week 4: Haldun Taner, Gözlerimi Kaparım Vazifemi Yaparım.
Week 5: Shakespeare and introduction to Shakespearean theater.
Week 6: Shakespeare, As You Like It.
Week 7: Shakespeare, As You Like It.
Week 8: Henric Ibsen, A Doll's House.
Week 9: Introduction to the post-war period and theater of the absurd.
Week 10: Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.
Week 11: Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.
Week 12: Evaluation.
