Course Description
Health economics applies economic principles to health and health care. It is about understanding how we can best use limited resources and health policies to improve health outcomes and make health systems more efficient and equitable.

Course Objectives
With this course, it is aimed that students will acquire the following knowledge and skills:
* How to examine a sector at national and international level in the health sector and related Pharmaceuticals, Medical Equipment-Medical Devices-Medical Technology, electronic information technology-based health services-health, mobile health sectors, who are the main stakeholders-decision makers and policy makers, how to examine the economic and innovation structure of the sector, what are the basic indicators specific to the sector and how innovation occurs in the health sector.
* To teach the application of basic economic theories to the health sector, taking into account the unique characteristics of the health sector, policy decisions, economic techniques that can be used in health planning, financing and management, the contribution of the health sector (hospital, pharmaceuticals, medical devices-medical technology, information technologies, etc.) to the country's economy, economic growth and innovation process, interaction with social sectors and other industries.
* To examine free market conditions, demand, supply, efficiency and equity considerations within the framework of the role of the state and sectoral stakeholders in health services.
* To enable students to gain experience in learning and evaluating different sectors on an international scale, especially senior students to apply economic principles at the sectoral level,
* To create an infrastructure for market access and market analysis.

Course Outcomes
1. Understand and analyse entrepreneurship, innovation, supply-demand, market access issues in health and related sectors.
2. Develop analytical and critical skills orally and in writing through practice (in-class group work and presentation), presentations and assignments.
3. Has knowledge and awareness in the fields of sustainability and community service and understands the relationship of the health sector with these issues.
