Program Information
TOBB ETÜ Faculty of Law, established in 2008, admitted its first students in 2009 and graduated its first group of students in 2013. The department has 19 faculty members and 10 research assistants.The program provides students with knowledge in both private and public law. With a wide range of elective courses and the Modular Education System, students are supported in specializing in their chosen fields.At TOBB ETÜ, the academic year is divided into three terms: fall, spring and summer. Students complete their first cooperative education (internship) program after their 5th term. This cooperative education lasts for one term and is an insured internship. The program requires students to complete three separate cooperative education terms. After the first cooperative edication term, students continue their education by alternating between one academic term and one internship term. They graduate at the end of 11 terms.Since 30% of the program consists of courses taught in English, one of the graduation requirements is to complete at least 9 credits of elective courses in English. In addition, law students are required to learn a second foreign language, choosing from German, Arabic, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian or Chinese.
The Bachelor of Law Program aims to educate legal professionals who can comprehensively understand and analyze the Turkish legal system, grasp the fundamental principles of global legal systems to conduct comparative legal analysis, adopt an analytical and critical thinking approach, and specialize in their respective fields.
Students who successfully complete this program are awarded a Bachelor's Degree in Law.
The Law program is a Bachelor's degree program, classified as Level 6 in the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ).
The graduation requirements are defined in Article 45 of the Undergraduate Education, Instruction, and Examination Regulation (link: http://mevzuat.basbakanlik.gov.tr/Metin.Aspx?MevzuatKod=8.5.15287&MevzuatIliski=0&sourceXmlSearch=).To graduate, a student must: a) Successfully complete the total of 183 credits required by the program, fulfill the three Cooperative Education requirements, and complete all courses that have not been substituted with other courses within the maximum duration specified by the regulation. b) Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.00.
(1) The number of students admitted to the undergraduate program is determined by the Board of Trustees Chairperson upon the recommendation of the Senate and finalized with the approval of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).(2) Admission to the first year of the undergraduate program is based on the results of the examination administered by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). Admission of international students is carried out in accordance with the relevant legal regulations and the principles determined by the Senate.(3) Transfers from within or outside the university, whether horizontal (lateral) or vertical transfers, as well as admission of special students, guest students, exchange program students, and other categories of students, are conducted in accordance with the relevant legal regulations. The process follows the principles and quotas determined by the Senate, with input from the relevant department, and is finalized by a decision of the Faculty Administrative Board. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have completed secondary education (high school) and obtained a sufficient score in the Equal Weight (EA) score category in the national centralized placement exam. Additionally, they must rank within the top 125.000 students in the YKS (Higher Education Institutions Exam).Students transferring from another higher education institution must have their previously completed courses evaluated by the Departmental Board and the Faculty Administrative Board to determine whether the course content is equivalent to the corresponding course in the Law program. If the equivalency is approved, the course completed at the previous institution will be counted as a substitute for the relevant program course, with the letter grade retained, for students admitted through ÖSYM or lateral transfer (horizontal transfer).
The assessment and evaluation methods applied for each course are defined in Article 22 of the Undergraduate Education, Instruction, and Examination Regulation (link: http://mevzuat.basbakanlik.gov.tr/Metin.Aspx?MevzuatKod=8.5.15287&MevzuatIliski=0&sourceXmlSearch=).Except for courses that are exempt from examinations by Senate decision, all courses require a final exam and at least one midterm exam. Final exams are administered during the examination period specified in the academic calendar. The dates and venues of the final exams are determined by the Rectorate.
The mode of instruction is Full-Time First Cycle Education. Education is conducted Face-to-face in a classroom setting.

TOBB ETÜ graduates have demonstrated their success in the legal profession by working at prestigious and prominent law firms in Turkey. Additionally, according to the Graduate Success Atlas data available on yokatlas.yok.gov.tr, they have achieved high performance in the Judicial Examination and KPSS (Public Personnel Selection Exam). In addition to judgeship, prosecution, lawyering, and notary professions, which are exclusively available to law school graduates, they also pursue careers in both public and private sectors. TOBB ETÜ law graduates not only establish careers in Turkey but also gain admission to master's and doctoral programs at various universities worldwide. Furthermore, with the legal knowledge acquired during their undergraduate studies, they successfully pass bar exams in these countries and practice law internationally.
Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education may be admitted to Private Law and Public Law graduate programs if they obtain a minimum score of 70/100 on the ALES exam and 70/100 on the Language Proficiency exam.
