Admission Requirements

a) In order to apply for a master's program, candidates must;1) Have a bachelor's degree and have received a score sufficient to meet the minimum requirements determined by the department in the score type of the program they are applying for from the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) conducted centrally by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). Candidates applying from abroad can apply with GRE or GMAT exam results instead of ALES, provided that they have been taken from a test center abroad. However, their scores that can be considered equivalent to their ALES scores are the minimum score level announced by the Council of Higher Education, and this score can be increased by the decision of the Senate. 2) Candidates who do not have a score from the Interuniversity Board Foreign Language Exams (YDS, e-YDS) can apply with their current equivalent scores from the language proficiency exam to be conducted by the University, TOEFL-IBT with international validity, or exams accepted by YÖK. (b) In accepting students to master's programs, candidates are subject to an interview evaluation. The interview evaluation is carried out by the interview juries. The interview jury consists of at least three main and two substitute faculty members, who are recommended by the department head and approved by the institute board of directors. Separate juries are established for graduate programs conducted in a department. The procedures are carried out by the department head and the institute directorate. c) In order for a candidate who applies to a master's program and is evaluated for an interview to be accepted to the program; his/her total score must be at least 55. The candidate's success is determined by his/her total score. The total score is calculated by adding 50 %of the ALES score, 25 %of the undergraduate GPA calculated out of 100, and 25 %of the score received out of 100 in the interview evaluation. Candidates with a total score of 55 or more out of 100 are ranked by the interview jury according to their total score, starting from the highest score. In case of a tie in total scores, the interview evaluation score and foreign language proficiency are taken into account. The exam report is sent to the directorate by the relevant department head. The Institute's Board of Directors determines and decides on the main and reserve candidates accepted according to the quota in the program.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who are newly registered for a master's degree program may request exemption from courses they have taken and passed at the higher education institution where they were previously registered for a master's degree program, in order to have them count towards their obligations in the master's degree program they have been accepted to. If the content of the course taken at another institution is compatible with the content of the course given at TOBB ETÜ and is approved by the relevant faculty/institute directorate, the student may be exempted from this course.

Examinations, Assessment and Evaluation

Credit courses have their own assessment and evaluation system. Seminar courses are evaluated with a pass-fail grade. In order for the thesis to be accepted, a presentation is made in front of a jury of 3 professors (1 professor from outside the department).
