Industry Engineering Ph. D. Degree Program

Program Information

General Information

Founded in 2005, TOBB ETU Industrial Engineering Program produced its first graduates in 2009. The Master's Program was opened in 2008 and the doctoral program in 2011. There are 8 faculty members in the department. Faculty members work in the fields of optimization, stochastic models, statistics, logistics, supply chain, scheduling, and energy systems. The quotas for scholarship and fee-paying students in our department are determined by the Institute of Science.


Program Educational Objectives

1. To provide graduates with the in-depth knowledge and practical experience needed for future careers in academia or industry


Degree Earned

Students who successfully complete this program are awarded a Ph. D. Degree in Industry Engineering.


Level of Degree Earned

The Industry Engineering program is a Ph. D. degree program, classified as Level 8 in the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ).


Requirements and Rules of the Degree Earned

At least 7 courses with a total of not less than 21 credits + 1 Seminar course (Non-Credit) + DYE700 (Doctoral Qualification Exam - Non-Credit-Compulsory) + Doctoral Thesis (Non-Credit) + FBE 600 Scientific Research Techniques and Publication Ethics (Non-Credit - Compulsory)

Fulfilling the conditions specified in the Fifth Section of TOBB ECONOMICS AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY GRADUATE EDUCATION-TEACHING AND EXAM REGULATION


Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who are newly registered for doctoral diploma programs may request exemption from courses they have taken and passed at the higher education institution where they were previously registered for the doctoral program, in order to have them count towards their obligations in the doctoral diploma program they have been accepted to. If the content of the course taken at another institution is compatible with the content of the course given at TOBB ETÜ and is approved by the relevant faculty/institute directorate, the student may be exempted from this course.


Examinations, Assessment and Evaluation

Credit courses have their own assessment and evaluation system. Seminar courses are evaluated with a pass-fail grade. In order for the thesis to be accepted, a presentation is made in front of a jury of 5 professors (1 professor from outside the department and 2 professors from outside the university).

Occupational Profile of Graduates - Employment Opportunities

The sectors focused on in the program are defense, logistics and transportation, financial services, retail services, health services, tourism, intellectual services (consulting, research and development, communication and information technologies, education), and public services (governmental and non-governmental organizations). It is thought that a significant portion of the graduates will be employed in these sectors.
