Private Law Master's Degree Program

Program Outcomes

1) Recognizes and distinguishes various elements related to different disciplines of private law, including conceptual legal thinking, traditions, behavioral patterns, moral and ideological values, philosophical foundations and intellectual perception processes.

2) Possesses the reasoning ability to justify legal issues encountered and substantiate solutions to these issues. Demonstrates expertise in abstraction, generalization, integrating and distinguishing facts and analytical skills.

3) Studies the positive legal systems of countries with similar structures to the Turkish legal system and conducts comparative law research at an advanced level.

4) Criticizes and examines legal concepts, institutions, established legal practices and legal rules; develops solution proposals for their improvement.

5) Has the capability at an advanced level to analyze national and international studies concerning the approximation and uniformity of private law rules.

6) Develops new research topics that contribute to academic life.

7) Keeps up with developments in private law and possesses the ability to research a private law concept or institution, explore its historical and philosophical foundations and analyze legal regulations with a strategic approach.

8) Possesses advanced expertise in the application of abstract rules to specific legal disputes, determining appropriate methods of interpretation, recognizing legal gaps and understanding judicial law-making.

9) Has expertise in identifying the status of an institution in positive private law, along with its historical and philosophical roots, within a specific thematic scope.

10) Possesses an advanced understanding of fundamental private law principles such as the principle of good faith, legal certainty and equity. Demonstrates the ability to resolve legal issues with a sense of justice and ethical awareness.

11) Follows developments in private law and communicates with colleagues using a foreign language at a minimum of B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

12) Independently or as part of a team, conducts studies requiring expertise in private law and its sub-disciplines.

13) Has the ability to present and discuss solutions to complex legal issues in private law before an audience.

14) Through term projects/seminars/master's theses in private law, develops the ability to define a specific issue or problem, collect relevant data and analyze the collected data.

15) Has knowledge of the criteria that an academic study must meet in terms of form (visual aspects, structure of sections, referencing and bibliography) and content. Prepares his work in accordance with ethical principles.

16) Is aware that a term project/seminar/master's thesis should contribute to scientific knowledge and academic discourse in private law.

17) Has expert-level knowledge of asserting rights in judicial authorities and relevant institutions and ensuring their enforcement in private law.

18) Demonstrates expertise in legal informatics and the application of information technologies in legal practice. Has foresight regarding the impact of technological developments on private law rules and institutions.
