Course Description
With the help of various dictionaries, students will be able to identify sentences, paragraphs, texts of different categories (general as they develop their translation skills by translating (except literature).

Course Objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the main principles of translation and to provide them with translation practice, as well as to enable them to to improve their command of both Turkish and Turkish languages.
Course Outcomes
1. To learn the basic theories and approaches to translation
2. To apply these theories and approaches in the translation of various English and Turkish texts
3. While analyzing these texts, identify the decisions taken by the translator using theoretical terminology to

5. The act of translation to propose solutions to the problems encountered and criticize existing translations
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: What is translation; What is its relation to culture; How many types of translation are there?
Week 2: What is a translator's job description; What are the limits a translator should not cross?
Week 3: What are the rules of "good" and "successful" translation?
Week 4: What do you think about machine/computer translation?
Week 5: How does a translator analyze a text before translating it? should be prepared?
Week 6: What are the differences in various types of translation (e.g. receptions, law, medicine, advertisements, newspapers, simultaneous interpreting, etc.)?
Week 7: Translation of letters, petitions
Week 8: Legal translation and EU texts
Week 9: Translation of medical texts and prescriptions
Week 10: Translation of idioms and famous quotes
Week 11: Headlines, advertisements, jokes Translation
Week 12: Translation of a newspaper article
