Course Description
This course on architectural photography consists of both theoretical and practical components. The theoretical section follows a chronological approach, examining the relationship between photography and architectural theory, history, and practice from its origins to the present. The practical section focuses on photographic techniques and their application to architectural photography. Through lectures and class discussions, the course aims to provide an analytical perspective on the form, content, and socio-cultural background of architectural photography, emphasizing its role in design, promotion, comprehension, and appreciation of buildings. The practical exercises are designed to equip students with technical proficiency in architectural photography while also fostering creativity.

Course Objectives
The course aims to develop students' understanding of architectural photography as both a representational tool and a creative medium. It provides technical knowledge on photography, explores its role in architectural research, documentation, and visualization, and introduces significant architectural photographers and their works. Students will learn to critically analyze architectural photographs while also acquiring the skills to produce architectural and built environment images.

Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: The Relationship Between Photography and Architecture (19th and 20th Centuries). Lecture and discussion on architectural and urban photography.
Week 2: Elements of Photography: Shutter speed, aperture, focal lengths of lenses, ISO.
Week 3: The Relationship Between Photography and Architecture (20th Century): Lecture and discussion on architectural and urban photography.
Week 4: The Relationship Between Photography and Architecture (20th Century)
Week 5: Light and Color: What are the light sources used in photography? Light metering, light metering modes. How does the use of light affect photography? Characteristics of light: color temperature, white balance.
Week 6: Technical Tips for Architectural Photography Production Determining the right shooting time and vantage point. Lens selection, the function and importance of perspective and sharpness. Common challenges in outdoor photography and their solutions. Common challenges in interior photography and their solutions. Techniques for taking photographs with a mobile phone camera.
Week 7: The Relationship Between Photography and Architecture (Contemporary Works)
Week 8: Presentation on Portfolio Development
Week 9: Evaluation of Photos Taken for the Final Portfolio Submission
Week 10: Evaluation of Photos Taken for the Final Portfolio Submission. Photo editing with Photoshop and Snapseed.
