In MIM 336, the historical and cultural heritage of Ankara, a city with a multilayered past, will be analyzed and discussed within an interdisciplinary framework by establishing connections between the past and the present. As Henri Lefebvre states:
"The city is not merely a material product; rather, it is closer to a work of art. If the city and social relations within it are produced, this is not merely the production of an object, but rather the production and reproduction of human beings by human beings. The city has a history; a history shaped by well-defined individuals and groups who, within specific historical conditions, contribute to its realization." (The Right to the City, p. 27)
From this perspective, the multilayered history of Ankara will be examined through its buildings and spaces, alongside scientific data and evidence. Additionally, everyday life practices, spatial productions, and the cultural, social, and economic representations of Ankara’s inhabitants will be discussed through various narratives, including architecture, literature, film, museums, and social media.
