Turkish Language and Literature Undergraduate Program

In this course, questions such as how to prepare an academic paper in the field of Turkish Language and Literature and what steps it requires will be answered, and practice studies will be conducted on excerpts.

To be able to write academic papers in the field of Turkish Language and Literature and to learn academic writing processes practically.

1. Learns the types of academic writing.
2. Learns scientific research and writing techniques, how to limit the scientific subject and create a bibliography.
3. Can do academic writing practices.

Week 1: Introduction to the course
Week 2: Types of academic writing: research article, promotional article, research report, academic critique, thesis, book, etc. Stages of academic study. Determining on the research topic, purpose, and problem(s)
Week 3: Literature review: distinction between primary and secondary sources, databases
Week 4: Academic ethics. Direct and indirect quoting. Referencing methods
Week 5: Introductory text examples
Week 6: Academic writing phase: Posing a problem, creating a thesis
Week 7: Parts of an academic paper. Designing the structure of the paper Publication phase Some basic concepts: indexed journal, refereed journal, copyrighted work, DOI, ISSN, ISBN, e-ISSN, ORCID, ResearcherID, ScopusID, YÖKID, peer-review, single-blind, double-blind, open review, etc.
