Course Description
Firstly, the scope of insurance law is determined and the basic concepts of insurance law such as insurer, policyholder, insured and insurance contract are clarified. Following these, the types of insurance, determination of insurance compensation, rights and obligations of the parties and the provisions to be applied in case of breach of contract are explained.

Course Objectives
The place of insurance law in private law and the reasons for the need for this branch of law are comprehended. It is aimed to master the basic concepts of insurance law. It is aimed to master the parties of the insurance contract, the interests aimed to be protected by the insurance contract and the features specific to the insurance contract.
Course Outcomes
1. Defines and distinguishes the basic concepts of insurance law. Have knowledge about the importance and place of insurance in economic life.
2. Has knowledge about the conflicts of interest between the policyholder, the insurer and the insured. Have knowledge about the rules of law applicable to the legal relationship between them.
3. Has knowledge about the effect of the interests secured by insurance on the type of insurance.
4. Defines and distinguishes the basic principles in determining insurance compensation and the problems that may arise in practice.
5. Has knowledge about the institutions and judicial authorities that can be applied in case of a dispute arising from the insurance contract.
Tentative Course Plan
Week 1: Introduction to insurance law, definition of risk, classification of risks and human behavior against risks.
Week 2: The concept of insurance, the benefits and drawbacks of insurance and
theories explaining the subject of insurance.
Week 3: Types of insurance.
Week 4: Considerations in determining the insurance indemnity, insurance price, insurance value, insurance loss.
Week 5: Disruption of the equality between the insurance value and the insurable value, the concept of underinsurance and the concept of excess insurance and the provisions and consequences attached to them.
Week 6: Multiple insurance: joint insurance and double insurance, partial insurance.
Week 7: Definition, parties and form of insurance contract.
Week 8: Characteristics of the insurance contract and the provisions applicable to the insurance contract.
Week 9: Debts and obligations of the insurent.
Week 10: Debts and obligations of the insurer.
Week 11: Termination of the insurance contract, automatic termination, termination by the will of the parties and statute of limitations.
Week 12: Resolution of legal disputes arising from the insurance contract.
