In the Competition Law course, the rules introduced to ensure the continuity of the principle of competition that dominates the free market economy, agreements, decisions and concerted practices that prevent, distort and restrict competition are examined; The main duties and powers of the Competition Authority are discussed.

The aim of the Competition Law course is mainly to enable students to comprehend the importance of free competition and the impact of anti-competitive acts on the market. Thus, it is aimed that students will be able to determine the legal rules to be applied in case of anti-competitive agreements, concerted practices and decisions and abuse of dominant position and learn the role of the Competition Board.
1. Have knowledge about the emergence, development and economic functions of competition law.
2. Recognizes the concepts specific to competition law and has a command of national and international developments in this field.
3. Have knowledge about anti-competitive agreements, concerted practices and decisions. Distinguish the sectors subject to regulation in competition law.
4. Has a command of the structure, duties and powers of the Competition Authority.
5. Have knowledge about the types of sanctions that can be applied in case of violation of competition. Have the ability to follow the current decisions of the Competition Board.
6. Analyzes the decisions of the Competition Board by using the information learned in the course, prepares a homework on the decision he/she has analyzed and has the ability to present this homework in front of the public.
Week 1: Introduction to competition law, competition law as a subfield of law and economics, the relationship between competition law and other areas of law and other disciplines, competition economics (basic concepts), competition law from a historical perspective (Canada, USA, EU, Turkey, China).
Week 2: The concept of “competition” in Turkish legal order, unfair competition, prohibition of competition, anti dumping, incentives, sectoral regulations, competition law policy in broad sense (concepts, institutions), LPCL No. 4054 and other sources of competition law.
Week 3: Anti-competitive agreements, concerted practices and decisions (Article 4 of the LPCL), agreements, concerted practices and decisions whose purpose or effect is anti-competitive, horizontal agreements, vertical agreements and exemption concepts.
Week 4: Abuse of dominant position (Article 6 of the LPCL), application of competition law in regulated sectors, control of mergers and acquisitions (Article 7 of the LPCL) and the function of competition law in privatization processes.
Week 5: Examples/presentations on control of mergers and acquisitions and Competition Board decisions.
Week 6: Competition Authority (structure, duties and powers), competition procedural rules in the LPCL, research and investigation powers of the CA, competition procedural law and fundamental rights and freedoms in the LPCL.
Week 7: Visit to the Competition Authority.
Week 8: Sanctions that may be imposed in case of violation of the LPCL, sanction decisions of the CA with examples from the decisions of the CA.
Week 9: Judicial review of Competition Board decisions.
Week 10: Consequences of the violation of the Competition Act in terms of private law and the consequences of the application of the Competition Act in terms of private law with examples from judicial jurisprudence.
Week 11: Homework presentations.
